Supernatural provides a much needed escapism for when it feels like there are absolutely no other good things in your life. When you need to, you can just disappear in it and forget yourself. And the rest of the time, the characters remind you how strong a person can be when they need to, and that you can deal with anything life throws at you.

Which reminds me of a quote from Xander Harris:
"Buffy, I've gone through some fairly dark times in my life, faced some scary things, among them the kitchen at 'The Fabulous Ladies Night Club.' Let me tell you something, when it's dark and I'm all alone and I'm scared or freaked out or whatever, I always think, 'What would Buffy do?' You're my hero. Ok, sometimes when it's dark and I'm all alone I think, 'What is Buffy wearing?'"

And I feel that exact way, only, about Dean Winchester. What Would Dean Do. (And when that doesn't help, What Is Dean Wearing.) :XD:

I only became a fan of Supernatural last year (Fall of 2010). From Pilot, I knew who my favorite character was and why: Sam Winchester. The why became more intense and complicated as I watched more and more of the show, and honestly it is still growing. For the most part it is because I can almost completely relate to him in certain ways. My life hasn't been a bed of roses, it's been very difficult and to be honest, it's a wonder I'm still going. If SPN was real, I'd have made a demon deal by now, I'm sure. Anyway, Sam's character really began to mean something to me. He'd been through a lot, and instead of shoving it deep down he tried to deal with it. He cares about other people and tries to help them in a deeper way than Dean. He always had a reason for being 'whiny' and no matter how hard Dean pushed him away, he never gave upon his brother.

Sam Winchester helped me believe there was hope. If he could live the shitty life he had, keep living and keep fighting, then I could. I have my own monsters and demons that I've been running from. Sam helped teach me to turn around, stop running, and start fighting.

Sam made me a Hunter, of sorts.

2011 is the toughest year so far in my life and I’m glad I have Supernatural with me. Instead of providing a haven to hide in, the show boots my confidence for me to deal with my life. I learnt that I may not have a caring brother, but I have parents who, despite painful moments of misunderstanding, would sacrifice everything they got for me the way Dean would do for Sam, and for that I should try harder. Merry Christmas to my heroes and the fandom!

Supernatural struck a chord with me because at it's core it's about family and overcoming the mistakes you've made. But it only truly became complete for me with the arrival of Castiel. I've never felt such a connection with a character before, since he displayed the childlike innocence and socially alien awkwardness that I feel have always been a big part of my own personality.

Supernatural mean many things for me. This show had so much inspiration. (not just the drawing but others too) First of all I'll never read fanfiction (in english) if it wasn't for this show because Supernatural's not kinda famous that time in my country and I'd to read many things (include news, fanfiction etc..) from the foreign websites and that really help me with the language (even I'm not better than before lol) and I'd a chance to make friends with many people!! not just in my country (We've a small group here ) but here in DeviantArt too! And that's the greatest thing that happen in my life. So THANK YOU SO MUCH SPN!! You're like a piece in my life!!!

Supernatural to me means I can escape a reality in which I don't wish to be in. My life is a continuous circle of happy-sad-happy-sad but watching Supernatural, it's one of the first shows ever that takes my mind off everything that's going on around me. The amazing acting, the sheer ingenious storyline and the monsters are a part of something wonderful that takes me to a whole other dimension when my eyes are glued to the screen. I'm a little sad I came into the fandom so late but better late than never, they always say. This amazing show about two brothers who, despite everything, hold together no matter what, inspires me to write, draw, laugh, cry, live and love more than I've felt in a very long time. It's brought me so much enjoyment and happiness over the past year or so that I wish I could somehow give all that back to the cast, to the writers and creators but I don't think I could ever repay them the amazing debt that is: Supernatural.

The planets move around the sun in ellipses, sometimes they are close, sometimes they are distant. But they are always as a whole. They are inseparable just like Winchester brothers, nothing can come between the brothers. That's a law of nature.
I wish Sam&Dean always together, always happy!
PS, I want the amulet back!!!!!!!!

I love the show Supernatural. I hadn't known much about it since last summer when I visited a friend halfway across the globe, and she made me watch all five seasons in three weeks.
Calling it intense would be an understatement. I was overwhelmed by the awesomeness of the show, and we spent all our days fangirling and gushing about the characters.
So, when I think about Supernatural I think about those awesome weeks I spent overseas, and it just fills me with joy.
What I love most about it is Cas' undying love for Dean. Platonic or not, Cas loves Dean. All the things he did for him, how he sacrificed himself (twice), the looks they share. Their little moments. How only Dean can make Cas smile. How they understand each other wordlessly. Their profound bond.
Well, of course that has pretty much changed this season, and there's nothing that I wish more than for things to go back to how they were. Dean and Cas, living happily ever after. I really wish for that to happen, and soon.
And even though I miss Cas horribly, I gotta say that I'm starting to like Sam this season! No demon blood, no anger issues, just... Sam. It's good to have him back!

It all started in October 2007 when I watched the first trailer for the show on German free TV. I was really scared and a bit disgusted –they showed the scene from ‘Skin’ where Dean aka. the Shapeshifter rips off his skin- and thought what kind of crazy show is this?! The day the first episode aired there was really nothing else on TV and since the trailer also piqued my curiosity I thought I might give it a shot. I even missed out on the first minutes. After that I thought the show was ok, but nothing really awesome and I didn't really think that any of the guys were hot. (What a complete fail). But that car got me hooked and so I went on watching the show. I realized I became a fan when I had an important due for my study but decided to watch the show instead. I also started to think that at least Dean/ Jensen is a real stunner. I just loved his witty comments and whole attitude.
However, it was not until the 3rd season that I started to consider myself a real fan and from the 4th season onward I became really obsessed with the show. I never missed an episode and if anybody entered the room and started talking while my boys were on screen, I got pretty pissed. I also started to watch some episodes in English because I liked the original voices better.
During these 4 years now, I laughed and cried with the boys and all the characters from the show have grown close to my heart. This show is the reason I rock out to ‘mullet rock’ and have a soft spot for cars from the 60ies. From this wonderful fandom I learned what ‘slash’ means and how awesome and human the actors as real life persons are. But the most important thing: I learned that family doesn't end with blood.
I'm glued to the TV every Thursday, when I watch the show, and the whole week I'm looking forward to this day. I'm glad I started watching back in 2007 and kept going. I can't imagine my TV without Supernatural.

I’ll tell something about Dean, my favorite character. I really love him, mostly because I can relate to him. For his sarcastic and playful, yet kinda pessimistic attitude, for his being loyal and responsible, for his flaws (like his lack of self-confidence) and even for the small things, like him quoting movies and no one around him understanding what he’s talking about! I can also relate for the way he deals with his relationship with Sam, and his occasional distrust towards him, and how he felt broken and “betrayed” by his behavior in S4, because something similar happened to me as well.
Dean’s character helped me overcome this bad period of my life, and I’m grateful for that.
But what’s more important, he showed me HOW a good older sibling should be. I have a little sister and she’s 10 years old. I’m 19, so there’s quite a huge age gap between us.
We couldn’t really get along, until I decided to show her Supernatural (of course telling her not to look when there’s too much blood… ). I told her: “Now let’s play. I’m Dean, and you’re Sam”.
She enjoyed the whole thing so much that she became a fan of the show! We had finally found a common ground, and now we watch it together almost everyday, we have jokes between us nobody else understands, and we like to quote Sam and Dean whenever we can. I can really say the show in general pushed us closer to each other, but that wouldn’t have been possible without Dean.
Dean finally made me understand it was about time I’d try to change things and try to be a good older sister. Of course I’m not nearly as good as him, but that’s a beginning, and I’m really grateful that, through him, I could see this part of my character I needed to change, and how.

*MizteriEngel I like how you bring up the who and why. It's so true. We all pick a favorite(s) or know that we like someone but what's hard to understand is why.

~Renny08 Omg, I love what you said about your relationship with your sister. It's heart warming. My little sister is only one year (and 4 days) younger than me so I feel like we protect each other. But how you guys "played Dean and Sam" is so inspiring.
